Bruno’s Dog Blog Issue XXVII – “March Madness”
Hello! I hope everyone has been enjoying this warm weather! I may be big, but I’m only 18 months old, so this is only my second winter here in Buffalo. Half of the winters that I’ve experienced have been so mild, I don’t know why this area has such a bad reputation for snow. Of course, I do have vague recollections of walking on top of eight feet of snow at some point, but I was a little puppy then and everything seemed like it was at least eight feet tall. It’s all just a fuzzy memory to me now.
I’ve been enjoying my walks a lot more since it has been warm. I love my walks in the neighborhood, greeting my friends that I routinely see on our path, both human and canine alike, and I especially look forward to the days when Mom takes me to Chestnut Ridge Park for a long walk! I spend a lot of time sniffing away at everything and letting everyone else know that I’ve been around, if you know what I mean! Mom always calls my sniffing “reading the doggie newspaper.” Silly mom — dogs don’t write for the newspaper, they blog!
Mom and Dad sure can’t wait for all this rain to slow down so that the yard will finally dry out. Our yard is a muddy mess with the snow, then the snow melt, then the rain, and then more rain. I love running around in it, but Mom and Dad don’t seem too enthusiastic about having to use 3 or 4 or 10 baby wipes to clean my feet and my belly after every bathroom break! Oh well, I have fun out there, and that’s what’s important. I do look forward to the summer though, when I can resume my favorite activity in the world, getting sprayed in the face with a garden hose! I am a man of simple pleasures.
I’ve also found my favorite snack in the world — string cheese! Mom started giving it to me as a very special reward for when I am good by staying on my place cot during dinner time. At first, I was a little hesitant, but now as soon as Mom or Dad starts serving dinner I run to my place cot and eagerly await that first bite. Mmmmmm! They don’t even have to tell me to stay there now. It’s a win-win — they get to eat in peace without me jamming my gigantic head near their plates, and I get a delicious snack. Well that’s about all from me. I wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day and a Happy Easter! I’ll bark at you again soon. -Bruno
